Safety
At Lumi Learning, safety and privacy are our top priority. To ensure that all of our students and tutors stay safe at all times, we have implemented the following safety and privacy measures within our organization and our platform.
How Sessions Are Run
Every session takes place on a Zoom link managed by Lumi Learning, never on a tutor's personal account. All communication between families and tutors happens through messaging in the Portal, and tutors never receive a parent's contact information or last name. Members of our Leadership Team also drop in on sessions from time to time to make sure every session stays safe, professional, and on track.
Tutor Screening
Every tutor applies through a written application that our Leadership Team reviews before anyone is accepted. Tutors must be currently enrolled in high school or college. We interview applicants whenever we need to learn more about them, and every applicant from outside the United States is interviewed. Only tutors who meet our standards are invited to train with us.
Code of Conduct
Each tutor is required to e-sign Lumi Learning's Code of Conduct, confirming that a tutor will maintain a professional relationship with students and parents at all times, align with all standards of academic integrity, and maintain confidentiality at all times, along with other things. Data Privacy
Family and student information is stored in the Lumi Portal (my.lumilearning.org), where each person can only see what their role requires. Student and parent data is never given to third-party organizations or used in marketing or promotional materials of any kind.
Training Sessions
Once accepted, all tutors attend a live training session, where we discuss important elements of providing a safe tutoring environment, including behavior, professionalism, and safety. This ensures that all tutors understand how they must act while tutoring.
